Learn the Craft at Kazuri Beads & Pottery Center 1

Located on Karen Rd near Karen Blixen Museum, this craft center was started by an English Expat back in 1975 as a place where single mothers can learn and achieve self-sufficiency. Today, Kazuri features a number of outlets in Nairobi making a unique range of pottery which reflects the culture and wildlife of Kenya. Each piece, like our beads, is handmade and hand-painted in rich colors. Clay is purchased from small farmers in the highland region of Muranga, northwestern Kenya, and the women make it not only into colorful beads but also a stunning range of hand-thrown pottery and ceramics.
